  • What We Are – What We Can Be

In my Bible study, I’m learning about God. This morning, I read about the Tower of Babel. It was during my reading that I realized who the builders of the tower reminded me of … my children! And I came to see that the Lord’s love for us is tremendous! He has such patience for us. We’re such willful children, always getting ourselves into trouble. How many times in our lives has He bailed us out? And how often did we thank Him for it? Maybe like the builders, we didn’t know we were building a tower of difficulty for ourselves. But this only means we should say a prayer of thanks Every Day! We don’t need to see the pit in our path that we’re saved from falling into. We just need to know Who saved us!

I highly recommend the exercise I’m doing. Starting in Genesis, I’m reading a chapter every day and recording what I learned about God alone. I don’t write down anything but what the verse tells me about the Lord. I’ve read the Bible many times, but I’m getting so much out of this. I’m just taking it slow. I’ve already learned a lot about God in a short amount of time. You’ve probably heard the expression, “To know me is to love me.” I believe, to fully love the Lord, we need to know Him. This is His desire for us as well. He wants us to know Him. So let’s get started!

    • Jadijohson,

This is what I have just begun doing, to read the whole bible diligently from The very beginning, So far I have just finished reading Genesis chapter two. I will have a long way to go before I reach the last chapter of the Bible. It is also true that we don’t know how to love Him without knowing His heart and His doing. Thank you for you encouragement.

    • Pelicanflies, thanks so much for writing! I have read the entire Bible from cover to cover once in my life. It was quite a journey! Well worth the time and effort. I’m sure you will learn things you never knew. I’ve read Genesis many times, and I’m amazed that I’m getting so much more out of it this time because I’m focusing on God alone.

It takes a lot of discipline! I would also like to do this with you. I may do it a little different but I believe this will help me in other areas. God is really putting some things in order in my life and I’m doing my best to be very pliable. Thanks Jadi!

        • I would love to have you doing this along with me, stayindalight! I really am getting so much out of it. I don’t know if I’ll continue past Genesis, but I probably will. I’m not putting any rules down at this point. I’ll just see what happens!

          • Jadijohnson,

Thank you for your willingness to help me to learn the truth in the Bible.

I had joined the church one-year Bible reading program. i admit I had finished reading It with my eyes half closed most of the time; and I skipped many chapters and books in between too. So that time doesn’t count.

Then a few month ago I quickly read it again with more concentration, but I still skipped many chapters.

Three weeks ago i am determined to read it more diligently without skipping, and I will try to post what I learn as often as possible as a way to push me forward. Now I am only on Genesis 5 – five chapters in three weeks, very slow.
            Thank you again.

    • Don’t give up, Pelicanflies! Speed doesn’t matter! You gave me an idea. Maybe I shouldn’t keep my notes to myself. What do you think? I’ve already learned a lot about God. It would be fun sharing.

Please share your note so that I could learn from it too.
