  • Before We Became Christians

Before we became Christians, did events happen in our lives that would turn us to God, or make us seek knowledge about heaven?  Take a grieving mother.  If you lost a child, wouldn’t you want to believe there is a heaven, and that is where your child is?  And if your child is in heaven, wouldn’t you want to get there some day?  Wouldn’t you go to a local church and ask the pastor how you can get to heaven?  God would not have any of us perish.  He is trying His very best to reach us.  For some, this takes a still small voice.  But for others, it takes a good hard shake.  What better way to shake us up than a tragedy?  Blessed are those who listen to the still small voice!

    • wow. this is extremely insightful. Sometimes I am stuck in my my way of thinking, being raised in a christian family, i just think in terms of always knowing about heaven and how i can get there. certainly the ones who strike tragedy need a God. and i pray that God is the one true God. Jesus Christ

      • Franco, like you I was raised in a Christian home. I’ve never struggled with doubt. I just always believed. But can you imagine being one of those people who had to struggle through this life without God? How difficult that would be! But we can still miss the point. I was one of those “Christians” who thought they could get to heaven by being a good person. I still needed a shaking!

    • Jadijohnson,

You are right. I went to a baby girl’s funeral the first year I became a Christian. I remember how sad her parents were; but God turned their sorrow to peace when they accepted the Lord and embraced the hope of salvation in Him.

      Thank you for sharing.
